Leading Change – Net Zero
Organisations and individuals have been called on to support governments to keep the temperature of our planet below 1.5oC. To achieve this we need to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
The Senior Leader Net Zero Apprenticeship is specifically designed to accelerate development for aspiring and forward-thinking strategic leaders, enabling busy professionals to balance the demands of work and study. The programme is tailored to net zero Leadership, offering an ambitious focus on leadership development, while carrying the theme of climate change action running through it. As a blended learning experience, it is designed with flexibility and personalisation at its heart.
Our programme combines a strong focus on skills development and knowledge. This enables learners to apply research-led academic knowledge to real business challenges, bringing immediate impact for your organisation. The evidence-informed learning approach helps learners deepen their skills and develop across a broad range of professional competences, while giving substantive opportunities to engage insight into relevant business context.
The UK will be one of the most competitive marketplaces for energy managers’ skills in the next 5-7 years, as British businesses start to see the rise in the cost of energy as a priority.
Many companies in the UK either have no energy managers in place or have outsourced energy management, and therefore have reduced ability to manage their own energy consumption. In-house skills in energy management will lead to long term savings for companies. There is a major shortage of trained energy specialists and our apprenticeships will help to address the need for in-house energy management skills which can benefit organisations, across all sectors, including public hospitality, leisure, retail, banking, manufacturing, construction and property.
New targets will require the United Kingdom to reduce all greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050: The UK became the first major economy in the world to pass laws to end its contribution to global warming by 2050.
The UK has already reduced emissions by 42% while growing the economy by 72% and has put clean growth at the heart of our modern Industrial Strategy. This could see the number of “green collar jobs” grow to 2 million and the value of exports from the low carbon economy grow to £170 billion a year by 2030.
